You Never Know Who Your Dealing With, by Faria

Like most hypnotists, I have a set of post-hypnotic suggestions that I use and that are cued to music. During one show, an extremely responsive fellow showed promise as a very good subject for a cued music suggestion. Using a “snappy” piece of country music, “Richard” was told he would, upon hearing this music, jump to his feet and begin his own line dance. He indicated he understood, and he, along with others were brought out of trance and returned to their seats. Several subjects performed their cues without a hitch. Then came Richard’s turn. Nothing, nada. I cranked up the music but Richard just smiled from the back of the room. I moved on, wondering what had happened. Later, his buddy told me, “I guess I should have told you that Richard is totally deaf in one ear and from the back of the room “Ricky” couldn’t hear a thing. Next time- he line dances up front.
