Most landline phones are listed in phone directories which are public records. As of yet, however, a similar directory of cell phone numbers does not exist. There are other ways to link people to their cell phone numbers though; it just takes a little more work. That’s why many consumers use companies that offer services that search public records for you. Companies like Intelius or Phone Detective charge you per search or by subscription, but this can be well worth it when the information you need is urgent or critical.
